Examples of ICT infrastructure solutions, implementation which was supported by MIC

Republic of Senegal (2021): Demonstration of communication infrastructure development in off grid regions

A remote learning environment was developed by installing solar panels and wireless antennas at elementary schools in off grid areas.

Democratic Republic of the Congo (2021): Demonstration of a prenatal check-up system

High-quality prenatal healthcare services were demonstrated in regional areas lacking medical infrastructures via a prenatal checkup system using smartphones connected to IoT medical devices.

Republic of Botswana (2019-2020) and Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia (2021): Demonstration of e-agriculture

  • In Botswana, which has limited water resources, an improvement in agricultural efficiency was demonstrated by relevant technology including ICT. This demonstration not only doubled the yield of tomatoes, but also made it possible to harvest Japanese varieties that are difficult to cultivate.
  • In Ethiopia, crop management for rice production by monitoring and analysis using sensors and IoT technology on farmland was demonstrated.
